Templates are the basis for all consistent writing. A company image must be seen several times to achieve recognition. To ensure the impact of the image, it is important that all documents created including brochures, web pages, manuals, disk covers, labels, faxes, and even e-mail messages have a consistent look.
To accomplish this objective a company must have two things:
a documentation procedure, which instructs employees which format to use, how and when to use them, and how to alter them, and
templates, which will allow for a single format for each document type. This is similar to printing on letterhead except the template offers the heading and footer images, not the paper.
